Insulation board edge trimming

Edge trimming removes the outer edges of the insulation mat to establish its usable width. FIMEC SH engineers the station around the required board formats and the line’s arrangements for handling offcuts.

How it works

The station trims the mat edges ahead of subsequent operations. Its specification takes account of the material, retained width and offcut transfer. Shredding equipment can be added to prepare residues for storage. Cutting and waste processing are separate functions, each requiring its own specification.

Organized removal of edge offcuts

Provision for downstream offcut processing

Shredded offcuts: pneumatic transfer to a silo, depending on the application

Edge trimming removes material from the outer edges to retain the usable width. Station design starts with the infeed width, the edges to remove and the material to cut.

Several board-cutting processes are available; there is no single tool or rate specified for every edge-trimming application.

Mat presentation and board discharge need to leave a removal path for offcuts. Station design takes account of retained width and downstream equipment positions.

Usable formats are then handled by the longitudinal cutting and cross-cutting stations included in the line.

The shredder is a separate unit that complements cutting. It reduces the offcuts before pneumatic transfer to a storage silo.

Prepared offcuts can feed the production of blocks or bricks with insulation inserts where that use forms part of the plant’s process.
