Packing lines for insulation boards
Insulation boards can be packed with or without wool compression. Packing units combine film wrapping and shrinking, with operation matched to the volume of the pack.

Without compression : Product’s width

Two packing modes to suit the product
Without compression, the pack retains its height during wrapping. With compression, the unit reduces that height before holding the pack under film. The force applied by the machine is not a measure of the insulation material’s mechanical strength.
The examples reach 14.5 packs/min without compression and 10 packs/min with compression. These rates relate to the dimensions and density specified in the table.

Infeed size, density and packaged height determine the compression requirement. The 15 kg/m³ example reduces a height of 1,500 mm to 400 mm; this relationship cannot be assumed for a different wool product.
Packing receives stacks from the stacker and prepares them for downstream handling. Film wrapping, shrinking and multipack modules are selected for the required packaging.
Palletising then arranges the packs on their handling support.
Each table row describes one packing mode. The rate of the complete line also depends on stack feeding and discharge.

| Without compression | 1350 mm | 600 mm | 600 mm | 14.5 |
| With compression | 1350 mm | 600 mm | 1,500 mm to 400 mm at 15 kg/m³ | 10 |
