Automated order preparation for panels

Automated panel order preparation combines identification, inspection and load assembly on transport racks. Stacker crane storage can extend this sequence and exchange stock information with the WMS.

Panel identification through to storage

Each panel is identified by its barcode before placement on a transport rack. Inspection directs accepted panels to preparation and removes those that do not meet the selected criteria.

Robots perform repetitive handling movements. The operator remains responsible for inspection and supervision. Loads are secured before collection; horizontal or vertical storage depends on the product and its support.

Line functions

Reference identification before storage.

Removal of non-conforming panels.

Stock tracking through a WMS connection.

The barcode links each panel to its product reference. Inspection takes place before load assembly so accepted items and rejected items follow separate routes.

Acceptance criteria and reject handling are defined with the plant’s quality organisation.

A stacker crane can receive loads at the end of the line. Its connection to the Warehouse Management System (WMS) links physical movements to stock records.

Rack loading and the store form two connected stages: the first assembles the load, while the second manages storage and retrieval.

An application originally developed by ALFI Technologies handles solar panels with dimensions up to 2.2 m. It combines barcode reading, inspection, removal of rejected panels and placement on transport racks.

This case illustrates preparation of fragile products before storage. Other load-building arrangements are covered by the automated palletising solution.
